Armada Risk Partners to sponsor 2023 NAMMA Conference

By March 6, 2023News

Cleveland Ohio headquartered port insurance broker, Armada Risk Partners, has agreed a new deal to sponsor the North American Maritime Ministry Association’s (NAMMA) annual seafarer welfare conference.

NAMMA’s conference will take place in Seattle, Washington in August. The event is the most diverse gathering of maritime agencies and port welfare workers in North America and will share insight and best practice on supporting mariners. The event will examine seafarer welfare on both ocean-going ships and inland waterways vessels which employ around 33,000 mariners in the US.

Ed McNamara, Armada CEO said: “Armada is committed to supporting the maritime community.  We recognize that seafarers are the lifeblood of the maritime industry.  They often face enormous challenges being away from home and loved ones for extended periods of time working in dangerous conditions. Ports are their bridge back to everyday life and we want to support the essential work many ports and their chaplains are undertaking.  NAMMA is instrumental in bringing together the seafarer welfare community to address issues such as mental health and wellbeing to the impact of the Ukraine war and conflict around the world. Armada is honoured to partner with NAMMA and support this important conference.”

NAMMA executive director Jason Zuidema said: “NAMMA’s 2023 Conference will be the first on the West Coast in more than a decade and will explore the theme of being ‘Ready for the Future of Seafarers’ Welfare’. Though we cannot know what the next challenges might be, the last few years of pandemic and war have taught us to prepare for whatever might impact the work of seafarers’ welfare. Key parts of readiness are providing a robust network and professional development programs available for our members. A sincere thank you to Armada and all of our conference sponsors for their support to help raise awareness of seafarers’ welfare issues in the maritime and wider port communities.”

NAMMA provides fellowship, encouragement, advocacy, education, spiritual, and professional development for those in maritime ministry. NAMMA is a registered charity in the United States of America and has members in Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. Visit: www.namma.org/
